Environment sensors are used in various situations and are most used as IoT devices over the years. Due to the recent pandemic, monitoring of indoor CO2 concentration has become more important. With world government focussing on policies towards “Sustainable cities and communities”, there is a rise in new buildings obtaining certifications such as LEED, WELL that require inside environmental monitoring.
The environment monitoring solution built by monoZ is based on monoZero, thereby supporting PoC implementation in a short period of time for a variety of use cases. Upon completion of PoC users can optimise their product with only the most relevant sensors.
Challenges
A simple solution that can support several use cases around environmental monitoring.
Intuitive interface for users to visualise the environment.
Simple registration of sensor devices in cloud platform with a large number of installations.
Solution
monoZero: A custom board was built with several environmental sensors to monitor CO2 concentration, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, illuminance, and UV level. This sensor board acts as add-on board to monoZero connectivity board.
Custom Firmware: Firmware to capture sensor data and transfer to cloud was built over monoZ:SDK. Parameters such as transmission interval, enable/disable sensors was exposed as variables depending on use case.
monoZ:Cloud: monoZ:Link & Centra-IoT OSS was integrated for device management and custom dashboards were created to visualize sensor information from devices in real-time.
